THE POST-FUNDING GAP

You may already have the product, capital, technical talent, investor validation, and early traction. You may have even received coverage around your funding.

But once the announcement passes, a different set of questions becomes more important:

Funding Validates the Opportunity. It Doesn’t Define Your Market Position.

Can people outside tech quickly understand what you do and why it matters?

Why should a customer choose you over increasingly similar alternatives?

What should your company become known for?

What market territory can you credibly own?

Which opportunities deserve priority over the next 6 to 12 months?

PRODUCT + CAPITAL POSITIONING → DIFFERENTIATION → AUTHORITY → DISCOVERABILITY → GROWTH

Your investors understand the opportunity.

Now the broader market needs to understand why your company matters.

FROM TECHNICAL TO MARKET-READY

Your Team Understands the Technology. Does the Market?

Technical founders and product teams naturally think from inside the technology.

Models. Architecture. Infrastructure. Integrations. Workflows. Capabilities. Performance.

But customers, partners, media, industry leaders, and other decision-makers experience the company from the outside.

We help founders translate complex technical capabilities into a market position and value proposition people can quickly understand, without stripping away what makes the technology sophisticated or valuable.

But clarity alone is not enough.

When companies across the same category are describing themselves as AI-powered, agentic, intelligent, automated, enterprise-grade, or transformative, the market can quickly stop hearing the differences.

We examine how relevant competitors and adjacent companies position themselves, what territory they appear to own, where language has become interchangeable, and where potential white space exists for your company.

The goal isn’t simply to sound different. It’s to give the market a clear and compelling reason to choose you.

BEYOND THE TECH BUBBLE

Your Customers Probably Aren’t All Living Inside the AI Ecosystem.

Funding announcements and technology coverage can introduce your company to investors, developers, founders, and startup insiders.

But if the people who ultimately buy, recommend, partner with, or influence your product operate outside that ecosystem, your market strategy needs to reach beyond it.

AI in healthcare isn't only a technology story. It may also belong in conversations around patient care, wellness, healthcare operations, insurance, accessibility, workplace, family caregiving, consumer health, and the future of medicine.

AI transforming financial or professional services can extend into finance, banking, insurance, legal, compliance, workplace, entrepreneurship, small business, careers, productivity, and even consumer money conversations.

AI serving real estate or construction can intersect with housing, finance, property management, development, construction, home, lifestyle, small business, sustainability, and the future of cities.

We look beyond the technology category to identify the industries, customer interests, lifestyle and business conversations, partnerships, platforms, media categories, and broader cultural trends where your company has a credible reason to matter.

Being known inside the AI ecosystem is not the same as being understood by the market you’re trying to build.

Private senior-level strategy session

This is a focused senior-level strategy engagement built around your company, customers, competitive landscape, market position, messaging, founder authority, discoverability, and next-stage growth opportunities.

We analyze where the company stands today, how the market currently understands it, where positioning or differentiation gaps exist, which customers and audiences matter most, what the company should become known for, and which opportunities deserve priority next.

The engagement is typically completed over approximately three weeks and culminates in a private strategy session, detailed 90-day priority plan, and 12-month strategic roadmap your team can use to guide execution.

A brief conversation about your company, current priorities, and whether working together makes sense.

You don't need to add another full-time executive or build the strategy from scratch internally.

We handle the research, competitive review, outside-market analysis, positioning assessment, opportunity identification, and strategic development. Your team provides the context we need and helps pressure-test recommendations against the realities of the business.

This sounds interesting, but what exactly do you do?

A STRONG FIT FOR

Seed and Series A AI startups with market-ready products, along with select well-funded pre-seed and emerging technology companies that need stronger differentiation, clearer market positioning, broader market relevance, or strategic direction around what to prioritize next.

Greater clarity around where your company should sit in the market, what it should become known for, and which strategic moves deserve attention now, next, and later.

What You Leave With

Especially relevant if people keep asking

If people outside the company struggle to quickly understand what makes the product valuable and different, the problem may begin with positioning long before it becomes a marketing or sales problem.

EXPERIENCE MEETS STRATEGY

17+ Years of Helping Companies Become Understood, Relevant & Recognized.

Relevant Technology Experience

Pearl PR Group is an award-winning brand strategy and public relations agency with more than 17 years of experience helping companies strengthen positioning, credibility, visibility, and market recognition.

Our experience spans technology, consumer products, emerging businesses, product launches, market positioning, strategic communications, media, partnerships, and growth-stage campaigns.

We start with the market, not a predetermined tactic.

Before asking Where should this company be promoted?

we ask:

What should people understand about it?
What should it become known for?
Who needs to care?
Why should they choose it?
Which opportunities can help move the business forward?

Then we build the strategy around those answers.

DOORSTEAD

The Product Didn’t Change. The Positioning Did. Visibility Followed.

Doorstead came to Pearl PR Group after another agency had been unable to generate media coverage around the company's expansion.

The company, product, and expansion opportunity had not changed. What changed was how the story was positioned and presented to the market.

Pearl PR Group refined the market narrative, identified stronger story angles, and repositioned the expansion around what would make the company relevant and compelling to outside audiences. The result was top-tier media coverage, including FOX, within a short period of time.

Strategy That Changed the Market Response

Different companies. Different challenges. The common thread was understanding what the market needed to hear, how the company should be positioned, and what would give people a reason to pay attention.

Lauren took over after another agency failed to get us any press for our expansion, so we weren't expecting much, but we couldn't be happier with the results. Lauren exceeded our expectations and got us top-tier media coverage in a short time frame including Fox. She truly knows what she's doing.” J.B., Co-Founder & COO, Doorstead

SWAGWAY/SWAGTRON

They Entered Late, Rebranded Mid-Growth, and Still Became the Category Leader.

SWAGTRON originally launched as SWAGWAY, entering an already competitive consumer technology category months after direct competitors had begun securing top-tier media attention.

Pearl PR Group developed a differentiated positioning and messaging strategy that helped the brand rapidly build visibility and category recognition. When the company later had to transition from SWAGWAY to SWAGTRON, we helped carry that momentum through the rebrand without losing market traction.

That positioning became especially valuable when lithium-battery safety became a major national news story. By centering the messaging around trust, product safety, and category credibility, Pearl PR Group helped establish SWAGTRON as a trusted source major media repeatedly turned to. The brand ultimately surpassed earlier competitors in visibility and became a recognized category leader.

Pearl PR Group launched us and despite competitors that had launched months before us, we were the only brand that was repeatedly on The Ellen Show, GMA, Today Show, WSJ, Forbes, Mashable and countless others. Lauren has many high profile connections and whatever the request was, she made it happen. Everything we can possibly imagine, they got it for us. They also made our presence at CES stand out above the crowd. J.W. - Marketing Director, SWAGTRON

Frequently asked questions

What funding stage is the best fit?

Seed-stage companies are an especially strong fit, along with well-funded pre-seed companies that have a market-ready product and clear growth plans.

Select Series A companies can also benefit when refining positioning, entering new markets, preparing for expansion, or determining what should drive the company’s next stage of growth.

We already received coverage for our funding. Why would we need this?

Funding coverage tells the market that investors backed your company.

It does not automatically establish why customers should care, what makes your technology meaningfully different, what the company should become known for, what your founder should become known for, or which audiences and opportunities should matter next.

This engagement is designed around what comes after the funding announcement.

What exactly will we receive?

The final scope is tailored to your company, but may include market positioning and messaging recommendations, competitive and category analysis, differentiation opportunities, audience and ICP priorities, founder positioning, authority and credibility opportunities, AI discoverability observations, beyond-tech market opportunities, a detailed 90-day priority plan, and a 12-month strategic roadmap.

You will also receive a private senior-level strategy session to walk through the findings, discuss recommendations, answer questions, and refine priorities.

How long does the engagement take?

The Post-Funding Market Positioning + Growth Intensive is typically completed over approximately three weeks.

During that time, we conduct the research and analysis, evaluate your positioning and competitive landscape, identify strategic opportunities, develop recommendations, and build your customized roadmap.

The engagement culminates in a private strategy session, detailed 90-day priorities, and a 12-month strategic roadmap your team can use to guide execution.

How much time will our team need to commit?

The engagement is designed to provide senior-level strategic guidance without creating another major project for your internal team.

We begin with a focused discovery process to understand your company, product, customers, competitive landscape, goals, and current challenges. Pearl PR Group then handles the research, analysis, opportunity identification, and strategy development.

Your team's primary role is to provide context, answer key questions, and participate in the strategy discussion and review.

Our product is highly technical. Will you understand it?

You know your technology better than we ever will. Our role is different.

We need to understand it deeply enough to determine why it matters, who should care, what problem it solves, what outcome it creates, what makes it different, and how its value should be communicated to people outside the technical ecosystem.

That outside-market perspective is one of the reasons this work can be valuable.

We already have a marketing or product marketing team. Is this still useful?

Yes.

Internal teams are often extremely close to the company and product. An outside senior strategist can identify positioning friction, competitive sameness, messaging complexity, market-perception gaps, or broader opportunities that can be difficult to see from inside the organization.

Your team can then use the strategy and roadmap to guide execution.

Is this a PR engagement?

No.

The core engagement is strategic and focuses on market positioning, differentiation, messaging, audience clarity, authority, market perception, discoverability, and growth opportunities.

If PR emerges as a valuable execution channel, it can be discussed separately.

Do you provide AEO or AI search optimization?

We assess AI discoverability from a market-positioning and brand-perception perspective.

That can include examining how AI discovery platforms describe your company, which competitors appear around relevant category or customer questions, whether your intended positioning is reflected accurately, and where authority or information gaps may exist.

We are not replacing a technical AEO specialist.

Our focus is the strategic brand side: positioning, messaging, authority, discoverability, and how the broader information ecosystem understands your company.

What if we need clarification or refinement after the strategy session?

The goal is for you to leave with a roadmap your team can clearly understand and use.

The engagement includes one 30-minute follow-up session within 30 days to address questions, clarify recommendations, and refine priorities as needed.

If a recommendation within the agreed scope requires clarification or reasonable refinement following the strategy session, we will revise that portion of the roadmap at no additional charge within that 30-day period.

Does this include ongoing media outreach or execution?

Ongoing execution is not included in the core strategy engagement.

If media relations, thought leadership, partnerships, launch support, or other initiatives emerge as valuable priorities, Pearl PR Group can separately discuss selected execution support where there is a strong mutual fit.

Pearl PR Group, a division of PRBM Group LLC, is a brand strategy, growth consulting, and public relations agency helping consumer brands, technology companies, and emerging businesses strengthen market positioning, build authority, increase visibility, and support strategic growth through storytelling, media strategy, thought leadership, and other high-value opportunities
